Throughout the week the LEP is hosting a series of events from forward-thinking innovators and innovative businesses in the Leeds City Region.

 

It’s an opportunity to hear about their innovation journey, learnings and advice to offer insight and expertise to businesses who may be looking to innovate. Followed by a Q&A.

Speaker: Richard Paxman, CEO of Paxman

Paxman are the undisputed global market leader in scalp cooling and produce a device that helps prevent hair loss. 


Richard studied management science at Manchester’s UMIST and joined Paxman in 2008. The business has had international success and is passionate about improving scalp cooling efficacy. The system is available at a large number of cancer centers in Europe, North- and South America, Asia and Australia and all of the 5 highest ranked cancer centres in the UK.  Richard’s vision is to ensure that every applicable cancer patient, no matter where in the World, has the opportunity to maintain privacy and sense of normality by keeping their hair. Investment in people, biological research, clinical trials for both regulatory and marketing reasons, plus product development, is the key to future growth.

Richard will be joined with speakers from the University of Huddersfield to share insight into their collaborative projects. 

Dr ERTUgrul UNVER (PhD, MSc, PgCert, BSc)
Dr Unver is a Principal Fellow and subject area leader for Product, Interior Design courses at the University of Huddersfield. He has extensive commercial experience, working in the industry in the UK and overseas as an Industrial Designer & CAD/CAM manager where he designed several consumer products including laptops, mobile phones, monitors, security & monitoring devices between 1995-1999. He was appointed as Senior Lecturer at the University of Huddersfield, teaching on various Design courses. He was course leader for BA/BSc /MA Industrial / Product Design courses.

His recent research involves the use of rapid manufacturing systems, 3D laser sintering & Stereolithography, 3D printing technologies for Rapid Tooling, application of 3D laser scanning process for innovative product development and VR systems for product realisations.
