Our Aims are to:

recruit and train university and college students, and adult volunteers, to deliver the Speech Stars programme in schools as a volunteer or as part of their course placement.

develop children’s skills in listening and attention, oracy, vocabulary, sentence building and turn taking using engaging activities to build confidence and resilience.
-
promote inclusive, quality interactions for children with both adults and their peers by delivering group sessions and supporting children within the continuous provision.

impact on Early Years and KS1 outcomes in Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Early Reading, Oracy and Literacy.

improve recruitment and retention in the areas of Speech and Language Therapy, Early Years and Education.

ease pressures of waiting lists and referrals and assist in the development of a graduated approach to SALT services.
Speech Stars programme
Our programme focuses on 5 key areas using the STARS acronym.
Speaking, Turn Taking, Active Listening, Rhymes and Storytelling, Sentence Building and Vocabulary.
