Our Aims are to:

  • recruit and train university and college students, and adult volunteers, to deliver the Speech Stars programme in schools as a volunteer or as part of their course placement.

  • develop children’s skills in listening and attention, oracy, vocabulary, sentence building and turn taking using engaging activities to build confidence and resilience.

  • promote inclusive, quality interactions for children with both adults and their peers by delivering group sessions and supporting children within the continuous provision.

  • impact on Early Years and KS1 outcomes in Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Early Reading, Oracy and Literacy.

  • improve recruitment and retention in the areas of Speech and Language Therapy, Early Years and Education.

  • ease pressures of waiting lists and referrals and assist in the development of a graduated approach to SALT services.
